Meet Geovanna Carrasco, our National General Adjuster based in the New York office. With over 10 years of experience, she has been a valued member of Engle Martin since January 2020. Q: How long have you been an adjuster, and how long have you been with Engle Martin?
Geovanna Carrasco: I am National General Adjuster based out of the of the New York, New York office. My journey in the insurance industry began in January 2013, where I gained valuable experience and insight into the field. In May 2015, I officially transitioned into the role of an adjuster. After five years of growing in my career, I joined Engle Martin in January 2020, and I have been proud to be part of the team ever since.
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in claims adjusting with Engle Martin?
Geovanna Carrasco: Prior to joining Engle Martin, I worked for another adjusting firm and truly enjoyed the insurance field. I knew I wanted to grow my career, and what better way than to join one of the top adjusting firms to gain valuable experience? I also valued Engle Martin University, which is an adjuster-centric training program designed to enhance skills and foster professional growth. Being part of a company that invests in its talent was important to me.
Q: What types of claims do you typically handle, and how do you tailor your approach to meet each client’s needs?
Geovanna Carrasco: I typically handle commercial property and residential losses. I understand that communication is important, both written and verbal. I am a stickler for instructions, I make sure I understand what the client requires as well as the insured’s needs.
Q: What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced as an adjuster, and how did you overcome it?
Geovanna Carrasco: A key priority in my role is maintaining a quick turnaround to ensure claims move forward efficiently, which is important to providing excellent service to clients. To meet these expectations, I take a methodical approach to managing my files and prioritize open communication. I consistently provide clients with prompt verbal and written updates, ensuring they are informed every step of the way.
Q: How do you ensure excellent communication with clients throughout the claims process?
Geovanna Carrasco: I have open communication with clients and call them as soon as there is an issue. I remain persistent in my efforts to connect, ensuring they receive timely updates and support.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of in your career?
Geovanna Carrasco: I’m proud to be one of the youngest National General Adjusters with 10 years of experience under my belt.
Q: What advice would you give to women looking to enter the insurance industry as an adjuster?
Geovanna Carrasco: Do it. You will get out of it, what you put into it. The only wrong question is the one you don’t ask. Be confident in what you know, walk-in to a room knowing that you got this. If anyone tries to intimidate you, it’s because they’re hiding something. Trust your knowledge, your instincts, and always ask questions.
